So here we are! My final video. I am pleased with this video concidering the last minute changes i had to make. I put this video on youtube two days ago and already i am getting more veiws than i expected. So have a ganders and enjoy!

Film diary

I decided to make a film diary. This consists of me talking only a little about the 3 days of filming. The rest is of some unseen footage and part that i used in my film. This was only a quick edit to show you a few funny moments and abit behind the filming. All for a little bit of fun!

Le Transister

This is a video shot in paris of the Onlookers, a few months ago, directed by Benjamin Lemaire. This audio and footage was all live and done in just one shoot. I think that this video sums up the softer songs the onlookers write and gives them a laid back summery feel. The sound picked up the live music so well that it sounds like it was recorded. The camera he used wasnt A film camara but but a still shot camera however filmed in HD. The lighting is completly natural, and seems so natural and soft. This gives a fresh outlook on the Onlookers. In all his videos he uses the natural light so well it gives the videos their own speshial touch.

Editing

There will be a short film of my video diarys on the filming days. But at the the moment i am editing the actual music video. I have finished my first edit. Looking back there are some shots that are too slow for the music. Becuase the song is up beat and fast it wouldnt look right if the shots are long and slow. The ending picks up pace and gets faster however the beginning isnt. I dont have enough good footage to put more shots and scenes in. Therefore the editing needs to pick up the pace.Hopefully i can trick the audience to make them think the video is just as fast as the audio using cuts and spechial effects.

CHANGE OF PLAN!

Well as we expected the heavens have openend and dumped us with some snow! So there is no way my filming is going to happen. Therefore i have decided that for my media studies deadlines sake i am going to have to change my story board. Who knows when the snow will stop and clear up and i really dont have the time to wait any longer. So its back to the board room for me, i am going to change my ending and the majority of the outside scenes. I am going to use the snow in my scenes, if i cant loose it i supose i will have to use it! That leaves me with no time at all to draw out part of my new story board and get filming tomorrow before all the snow melts.

No filming

Well where i live seemed to be inbetween blue skys and heavey snow! So every half an hour we would get a little bit of snow then brilliant sunshine. Therefore i couldnt film as i need to put talcum powder down for when the actress jumps and the powder goes flying. So if the covers and matrise is damp then it will just stick! So i am going have to wait unitl the snow goes away, to be honest i dont think it will be soon as its forcasted heavey snow tonight! I think tomorrow i will do some editing and get some more paper work up on here.

Snow means no in media world!

I have a problemo! The weather has been so unpredictable these past couple of week. It so happens its been the weeks that i have wanted to film outside in! Every sunny dry day we have im at school or my actress is at school. So tomorrow is D Day! I shall be filming the last lot of footage tomorrow if it doesnt snow! It was forcasted before we went on our long weekend that it was ment to snow so i let a group that was going to film inside take a camera. Now i could be regreting that movement! So i am going to use my own camera becuase it goes onto a card. So fingers crossed it will be fine to put on the school computers. Other wise i will cry! Meanwhile apart from the filming, the editing has come to a standstill because we have had trouble with the software and music. But my album cover and magazine advertisment is fine and nearly ready to publish. So keep your fingers crossed guys and girls! As much as we want snow, the media world doesnt!

Story bored Drafts

My story board drafts where the first thing on my mind when i listend to the song heartache. When i have the story board done and drawn and written out i can work all the rest out. The story board can always be subject to change becuase, when im shooting if i dont feel like a small angle is working then i will change it. However mainly the story board doest change now it matches the script.

Paper work

I have a few golden sheets to put up on here today, giving you an insite in the way i think and work. I have the original sheets to give you, my first ideas and my last ideas. As soon as i hear songs i can imagen the video straight away, i supose we can put it down to me haveing a super duper imagenation. But with this task it has worked really well, alough the reasearch and proposal got knocked out the way, i have gone back to them and considerd the results. I know the Onlookers rather well, so i know how they work and what there personalitys are like, this helped me a great deal. However in other aspects it didnt beacuse it would be difficult to film a fake band singing their song, but i couldnt get them to do it becuase firstly they are too busy recording 8 new tracks and mixing them their selfs and also sorting out their monthly club night in Canterbury. Anyway here are a few sheets to have a Gander at. Filming

I did my second day of filming yesterday and i only have one more day to go. I have my schedule in front of and and all my paper work with me. However i don't have a scanner until we get back to school. So all my paper work will be up next week. I had great fun filming, even more fun filming my two actors getting in the sea in october! Brave people i must say! I cannot wait to start editing my footage and putting it to the music track. I have made a video diary of my filming, they will also start being published next week.

Paper work

I am curently doing more than one peice of paper work at the moment. I knew right from the begining that i wanted to create a music video, i also knew exactly what band and music track i wanted to use. However i still needed to do some reasearch on music and target audience to know if my video would work or not. I have just been given back my two sets of questionairs i gave out. 10 of them where titled 'Muisc and music video survey' the other 10 where titiled 'Music videos survey'. The first one is more genral but the second questionair will help me more with my video. I am now working out the results and making a conclution. I am also finishing the last two sences on my story board, making sure it will link in with the song and make sence. While i am doing this i am also learning and using Microsoft word script writter. I havent actully got a script however i am matching up the lyrics to the actions and the scenes, to make it clear when i am filming and editing.
I will be posting up all this paper work up as soon as i can so watch out!

Music video reasearch

Kings of Leon- Radioactive

This video and song is completely new and I want to just get an idea of how this video works. Now I have heard and seen comments about this song and video that hate the whole idea. However I feel that a band needs to grow with their music and this is what they have done. The majority of the people who dislike this song hate changes or haven’t listened to them from the very start.

On you tube there is a video that explains the making of the video and the song. As Jared Followill (the bassist) says it is a very spiritual song and contains a lot of gospel singing. Which means it actually means a lot to them as they grew up being around gospel music and spiritual surroundings. You can see this is you listen to the lyrics. The chorus says ‘Just drink the water, where you came from, where you came from’ Water is the purist thing you can drink and can also be turned into in holy water. Everywhere you go water tastes different, people say your roots are the water you drink meaning the place you was born. Kings of Leon are all related and the majority of their childhood they travelled around church to church because their parents where preachers. This means they come from a very religious background. All the spiritual and religious meanings are shown in the video. The video is so beautifully put together, showing peace and happiness in such a far away country to us. Kings of Leon are playing with the children and just finding their inner self. This may be what people find cheesy but it just shows the purity and the normality of the band. The editing of the video captures the beauty and warmness. The brown, yellow and red tinge to the picture gives the video a hot feeling but also a happy warm side. It is almost grainy showing old footage, we know its not but it gives the feeling.

The video matches up to the songs lyrics and the background of Kings of Leon. The video isn’t a narrative, it contains the band being filmed playing but also just has lovely shots of them just playing around.

The beginning!

Blogging is completly new to me and has taken me some time to get my head around it all. After looking at some previous media students blogspots i am now ready to have a go!
